Concrete Horizon — Wolf

The Story Behind the Artwork

Wolves read landscape the way most animals read weather — by instinct, by memory, by what has always been true of a particular stretch of ground. This piece places one at the edge of a horizon that no longer follows those old rules: a line where wilderness gives way to something built, permanent, and steadily encroaching. The wolf isn’t retreating. It’s looking, the way an animal looks at a boundary it hasn’t yet decided whether to cross. That hesitation is the emotional centre of the piece — not fear, not defiance, just the pause of a creature recalculating territory in real time. Development rarely announces itself as a single dramatic event; it arrives as a horizon that’s slightly closer than it used to be, year after year, until the line has moved considerably without anyone marking the day it happened. This is that horizon, mid-movement, with the wolf caught in the act of noticing.

5% of every sale from the Through Their Eyes collection supports wildlife conservation — set aside and donated annually at year end.
